Islanders RW Hunter out for season
Mar 8, 2009 - 12:07 AM UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- New York Islanders right wing Trent Hunter will miss the remainder of the season after breaking his left ankle in Saturday's 7-3 win over the New Jersey Devils. The Islanders leading active goal scorer this season with 14, Hunter suffered the injury when he tried to check New Jersey's Bobby Holik in the first period.
"I went to hit Holik and kind of got twisted up," Hunter said. "I fell down and twisted (it) the wrong way."
The fracture is not related to the left ankle injury that caused Hunter to miss Monday's 4-2 win over Colorado. Hunter returned to the lineup for Thursday's 4-2 loss to the New York Islanders.
