Islanders sign RW Jackman to extension

Mar 19, 2009 - 10:08 PM UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders on Thursday signed right wing Tim Jackman to a one-year contract extension.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old Jackman, in his second season with the Islanders, has recorded four goals and two assists in 57 games this season.

"Tim earned this extension by showing his willingness to do whatever is necessary to help the Islanders succeed," New York general manager Garth Snow said. "We know Tim is excited about being an Islander next season, and we're just as excited to have him back."

A second-round pick of Columbus in 2001, the 6-4, 210-pound Jackman has played in 125 career games with the Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings and Islanders, tallying six goals and seven assists.
