Thrashers recall RW Crabb, demote two
Mar 19, 2009 - 11:30 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers recalled right wing Joey Crabb from Chicago of the American Hockey League on Thursday and assigned left wing Brett Sterling and right wing Spencer Machacek to the Wolves.The 25-year-old Crabb made his NHL debut with the Thrashers earlier this season, recording three goals and four assists in 26 games. In 38 contests with Chicago, the 6-1, 195-pound native of Anchorage, Alaska has collected 14 tallies and 27 points.
Crabb was a seventh-round pick of the New York Rangers in 2002.
Selected in the fifth round of the 2003 draft, Sterling notched one goal and two penalty minutes in six games with Atlanta this campaign. A 5-7, 175-pounder from Los Angeles, the 24-year-old also has registered 16 tallies and 15 assists in 41 contests with the Wolves.
Last season, his first in the NHL, Sterling recorded a goal and two assists in 13 games with the Thrashers.
Machacek, 20, saw action in two games with Atlanta this campaign without notching a point. The 6-1, 185-pound native of Lethbridge, Alberta, who was a third-round pick in 2007, has amassed 20 goals and 22 assists in 66 contests with Chicago.
