Blackhawks activate RW Sharp

Mar 22, 2009 - 4:16 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks activated right wing Patrick Sharp from injured reserve prior to Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Sharp, 27, has missed the last 16 games with a knee injury. He led Chicago with 23 goals in 54 contests when he was placed on injured reserve February 18.

Last season, Sharp paced the Blackhawks with a career-high 36 goals while recording 62 points, the second-highest total of his career.

Chicago hopes his return can provide a boost as the slumping Blackhawks have lost five in a row (0-3-2).

In another move Sunday, the Blackhawks recalled defenseman Jordan Hendry from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
