Stars place C Modano on injured reserve
Dec 14, 2006 - 4:36 PM FRISCO, Texas (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars will have to snap out of their recent funk without Mike Modano. The Stars on Thursday placed the veteran center on injured reserve with a lower body injury and recalled center Joel Lundqvist from Iowa of the American Hockey League.
Modano, 36, has 10 goals and 10 assists in 27 games this season, his 17th with the Stars franchise. The six-time All-Star has missed Dallas' last four games.
The franchise's all-time leading scorer, Modano has 495 goals and 708 assists in 1,206 career contests. The injury comes at a bad time for Dallas, which has lost two of its last three games and has tallied just five times over that span.
Lundqvist, 24, appeared in four games earlier this season with Dallas. The twin brother of New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, Joel Lundqvist registered eight goals and a team-leading 14 assists in 25 games with Iowa.
The Stars host the Rangers on Thursday night.
