Sabres sign top draft pick Myers
May 11, 2009 - 8:11 PM BUFFALO, N.Y.(AP) -- The Buffalo Sabres signed defenseman Tyler Myers to a three-year, entry-level contract on Monday.The 6-foot-8 Myers was Buffalo's top selection (12th overall) in the 2008 NHL entry draft. He was named the MVP of the Western Hockey League playoffs this past weekend, helping lead the Kelowna Rockets to the league title and a berth in the Canadian Hockey League's Memorial Cup championship.
"He is a big, strong player who has excellent hockey skills for a 19-year old player," Sabres general manager Darcy Regier said in a statement. "We're glad to have him signed and look forward to his continued development both on and off the ice."
Myers posted a career-high 42 points in 58 games for the Rockets this season, and was a plus-31.
