Truck Series back on track at Atlanta

Feb 28, 2015 - 3:27 PM Hampton, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - After a two-year hiatus, the Camping World Truck Series returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway for 200 miles of racing on Saturday.

The Truck race will immediately follow the Xfinity event as part of NASCAR's Saturday doubleheader at Atlanta.

Of the 31 drivers entered, Ty Dillon is the only previous truck winner at this 1.54-mile racetrack. Dillon won the last truck race here in August 2012. He was a rookie in the series at the time.

"I love racing at Atlanta," Dillon said. "My first time racing a truck there, I sat on the pole and won my first ever NASCAR race. It was great."

Dillon is now a full-time competitor in Xfinity. He will have a busy day of racing at Atlanta.

"I've been really working out hard this offseason to make sure I'm in shape to run as many races as I plan on running this year," he said.

Dillon, the younger brother of Sprint Cup Series regular Austin Dillon and the grandson of NASCAR multi-team owner Richard Childress, turned 23 years old on Friday.

Erik Jones, Ryan Sieg, Daniel Suarez and John Wes Townley are also scheduled to compete in both the Xfinity and Camping World Truck races at Atlanta.

Last weekend, Tyler Reddick scored his first career victory in trucks by winning the season-opening race at Daytona. Reddick's maiden win came in his 18th start. He is running a full schedule for Brad Keselowski Racing in the series this season.
