Mauger to coach Super Rugby's Highlanders

Jul 31, 2017 - 11:47 PM Former All Blacks and Crusaders centre Aaron Mauger has signed a three-year deal to coach the Highlanders, replacing the Japan-bound Tony Brown at the Super Rugby side.

The 36-year-old Mauger joins an experienced coaching team alongside Mark Hammett, Clarke Dermody and Jon Preston.

Highlanders chief executive Roger Clark described Mauger as a high-calibre appointment.

"Aaron has demonstrated to us the passion, commitment and dedication to coaching at the club that we believe are vital at this level," Clark said.

Mauger, who played 46 times for the All Blacks from 2001-07, was appointed as an assistant coach of the 2015 Super Rugby champions earlier this year after he was sacked by the Leicester Tigers.
