DC United's Quaranta recovering from foot surgery
Oct 14, 2009 - 7:59 PM WASHINGTON(AP) -- D.C. United midfielder Santino Quaranta is recovering from foot surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the season.Quaranta underwent a procedure Wednesday to repair a ruptured plantar plate in his left foot's first metatarsal. He is expected to be sidelined four to six months.
Quaranta had a similar injury in his right foot in 2006 while playing for the New York Red Bulls.
Quaranta finished the season with two goals and six assists in 22 games. He also played in four games with the U.S. national team this year, scoring his first international goal in a CONCACAF Gold Cup game against Honduras in July.
