LA Galaxy cancels postseason tour in Germany
Nov 19, 2009 - 8:13 PM CARSON, Calif.(AP) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy have canceled their postseason tour in Germany, blaming the promoter for not meeting obligations.The Galaxy was scheduled to play FC Kaiserslautern of Germany's second division on Thanksgiving Day and a second opponent on Dec. 1, also in Germany.
Galaxy business operations president Tom Payne said promoter IMC Group Inc. didn't perform its obligations under the contract.
A statement by Kaiserslautern on Thursday said the Galaxy decided to scrap the entire tour after not getting another game in Europe.
The Galaxy had been on postseason tours the previous two years. The team plays Real Salt Lake in the MLS Cup this weekend in Seattle.
