Onalfo is a former U.S. national team player. He also played two seasons for D.C. United before retiring in 1999. He then stayed with the team for three seasons as an assistant coach and director of youth development.
Onalfo went on work as an assistant coach for the U.S. national team for four years and was the coach of the Kansas City Wizards for 2 1/2 years until he was fired in August. His record with the Wizards was 27-29-22.
