Wizards sign Pablo Escobar _ not related
Jan 21, 2010 - 9:20 PM KANSAS CITY, Mo.(AP) -- Pablo Andres Escobar is joining the Kansas City Wizards. No, he's not related to the deceased drug lord. While the 22-year-old defender is from Colombia, where he played for Deportivo Cali, he has nothing to do with Pablo Emilio Escobar, who was shot to death in 1993.
He's also not related to Andres Escobar, the Colombian defender who scored an own-goal against the United States at the 1994 World Cup, then was shot a few weeks later in apparent retaliation.
Kansas City also signed 28-year-old midfielder Stephane Auvray, a Guadeloupe native who played for Caen and was recently with Vannes and Nimes.
