Quevilly stuns Rennes to reach French Cup quarters
Feb 9, 2010 - 9:48 PM PARIS(AP) -- Amateur team Quevilly has reached the quarterfinals of the French Cup after beating first division Rennes 1-0.Club captain Gregory Beaugrard scored the only goal on Tuesday in the 44th minute for part-timer Quevilly, which plays in CFA - the equivalent of division four. Rennes, which had beaten defending champion Bordeaux 4-2 on Saturday, is in eighth place in the topflight and picked a near full-strength team.
Quevilly, situated in the suburbs of Rouen, and which reached the French Cup semifinals in 1968, is ninth in its league.
Boulogne beat French Cup-holder Guingamp 1-0; Sochaux won 4-1 at Beauvais, and Paris Saint-Germain beat Vesoul 1-0 to all reach the last eight.
