Red Bulls waive GK Cepero, D Johnson, D Garcia
Feb 12, 2010 - 9:10 PM SECAUCUS, N.J.(AP) -- The New York Red Bulls have waived goalkeeper Danny Cepero and defenders Carlos Johnson and Walter Garcia.The MLS team also announced on Friday that it did not pick up midfielder Matthew Mbuta's option.
Cepero made 13 starts last season, earning a 1.74 goals against average and a 2-8-3 record.
Johnson, who joined the Red Bulls from Norway's Bryne FK, appeared in 13 matches, tallying one assist. Garcia signed with New York last August from Argentina's Quilmes Atletico Club. He appeared in one game.
Mbuta had two goals in 12 games.
