Red Bulls acquire Robinson from Toronto
Mar 11, 2010 - 9:24 PM SECAUCUS, N.J.(AP) -- The New York Red Bulls have acquired Welsh former national midfielder Carl Robinson from Toronto FC for a fourth-round pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.The Red Bulls announced the move Thursday. They say Robinson will be added to the roster pending a visa approval.
The 33-year-old Robinson has appeared in 74 games with Toronto over the past three years, mostly as a defensive midfielder. He had two assists in 21 games last season.
Before coming to MLS, Robinson played for a number of English clubs: Portsmouth in 2002, playing 15 games, before being loaned to Sheffield Wednesday and Walsall. He played with Norwich in 2006.
Robinson has earned 52 caps for Wales since making his senior international debut in 1999.
