Carr's late goal leads Fire

Aug 19, 2010 - 2:51 AM BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) -- Chicago forward Calen Carr scored with just over seven minutes remaining Wednesday night to give the Fire to a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution.

Carr, in his first appearance of the season, faked defender Darrius Barnes to the grass and beat goalkeeper Matt Reis with a hard shot from 19 yards. Carr had missed the season's first 16 games with a quadriceps injury.

Chicago (6-5-6) took sole possession of fourth place in the MLS' Eastern Conference with 24 points. New England (6-10-3), which had its four-match unbeaten streak ended, is fifth with 21 points.

Marko Perovic opened the scoring for New England in the 16th minute. He faked Fire midfielder Baggio Husidic to the ground, then ran wide to the right before sending a shot by diving goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Husidic made up for his miscue at 31:05, taking a feed from Brian McBride and beating Reis with a slow roller just inside the left post.
