Liverpool ace Garcia set for Atletico
Jul 2, 2007 - 2:51 PM By Cindy Garcia-Bennett Special to PA SportsTickerMADRID (Ticker) - Liverpool forward Luis Garcia is set to complete a permanent move to Atletico Madrid in the next 24 hours, according to his agent.
When the Spanish international signs for his former club, it is expected that Atletico will sell striker Fernando Torres to the English Premiership club.
"We are working on Luis Garcia's permanent transfer to Atletico de Madrid," Garcia's agent, Manuel Garcia Quillon, told PA SportsTicker.
"If all goes well, the deal should be completed either Monday or tomorrow."
Garcia arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2004 from Spanish giants Barcelona and played a pivotal role in the Reds winning the Champions League that season.
The 29-year-old suffered a serious knee injury in January which curtailed his Premiership season.
