Montreal's match with Columbus moved to Sunday
Apr 13, 2013 - 5:51 PM Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Major League Soccer has moved Saturday's match between the Montreal Impact and Columbus Crew to Sunday because of poor weather conditions in the Quebec area.Snow began falling in Montreal on Friday and it is expected that accumulations will reach between 6-9 inches, with the possibility of rain throughout the afternoon on Saturday.
"Based on the snow that already has fallen in Montreal, and the forecast for the next 18-24 hours, the weather conditions will hamper efforts to clear the field and the stadium," said Nelson Rodriguez, MLS executive vice president of competition and game operations. "We believe a high probability exists that the field would be unplayable at the game's originally scheduled time of Saturday at 2 p.m. We appreciate the coordinated efforts of both clubs and our television partners in helping us arrive at the solution of playing the game Sunday at noon."
