Boerrigter sends Ajax five points clear
Apr 14, 2013 - 4:52 PM Eindhoven, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Ajax took a big step toward retaining its Eredivisie title on Sunday as Derk Boerrigter's goal in the 77th minute handed the Amsterdam side a 3-2 victory at PSV Eindhoven.Vitesse's 3-3 draw with Roda on Saturday opened the door for Ajax to take control of the league with a win, and despite a brace from PSV's Jeremain Lens, Ajax owns a five-point lead with four matches to play.
Kolbeinn Sigthorsson opened the scoring for the visitors in the 33rd minute, but Lens responded 10 minutes later for the hosts to level the contest at the break.
Christian Eriksen restored the lead for Ajax in the 52nd, but Lens once again found the net 20 minutes from time for PSV, only for Boerrigter to tally the winner for the defending champions.
AZ Alkmaar moved six points clear of the drop zone with a 6-0 thrashing of Utrecht thanks to a hat trick from Jozy Altidore, while Feyenoord failed to take over third place after being held to a 1-1 draw at RKC Waalwijk.
Heerenveen toppled last-place Willem II, 3-2, in Sunday's other match as Alfred Finnbogason scored twice in the second half, including the winning goal in the 84th minute from the penalty spot.
