Heracles cruises past RKC Waalwijk

Apr 20, 2013 - 8:47 PM Almelo, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Heracles snapped a three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion on Saturday, thrashing RKC Waalwijk 4-0 at Polman Stadion.

The match was scoreless until three minutes before the halftime break when Kwame Quansah converted a penalty kick for his first goal of the season.

The second half was one-way traffic as Marko Vejinovic doubled the home side's advantage in the 65th minute before a brace from Everton put the victory beyond any doubt.

The result sees Heracles jump to ninth place with 37 points and RKC Waalwijk remain fourth from bottom on 31 points.

Groningen won its fourth successive Eredivisie match by claiming a 2-1 win over Den Haag on Saturday.

Genero Zeefuik and David Texeira gave Groningen a two-goal lead by halftime while Kevin Jansen pulled one back for Den Haag 15 minutes from time. Both sides had a man sent off as Virgil van Dijk was given his marching orders for Groningen in the 64th minute while Jansen was issued a red card with four minutes remaining.

PSV Eindhoven bounced back from a loss to Ajax last time out by earning a 3-1 defeat at AZ Alkmaar on Saturday. Mark Van Bommel, Dries Mertens and Jeremain Lens produced a goal apiece for PSV, lifting the club to within four points of first-place Ajax.

Also on Saturday, Willem II picked up a 2-1 win over Roda to snap a four-game losing streak in league play.
