Union's McInerney named MLS Player of the Month
May 2, 2013 - 8:01 PM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Union striker Jack McInerney was named the MLS Player of the Month on Thursday for the month of April.McInerney had one of the best monthly performances in Philadelphia's short history, scoring four goals in four matches and the 20-year-old striker currently leads MLS in goals with six.
He also He won Player of the Week in week 8 with his standout two-goal performance in the Union's 3-2 victory over D.C. United.
Through seven matches this season, McInerney has contributed to every goal scored by the Union, a new club record.
The award is selected each month of the regular season by journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters.
