Osvaldo leaves it late for Roma
May 4, 2013 - 9:22 PM Florence, Italy (Sports Network) - Fiorentina's hopes of reaching the top three took a hit on Saturday as Pablo Osvaldo scored in stoppage time to lift Roma to a 1-0 win over the Viola at the Artemio Franchi.Fiorentina could have climbed ahead of AC Milan and into third place with a win on Saturday, but Milan will now have the chance to move four points clear in the race for the third and final Champions League spot with a victory over Torino on Sunday.
Roma remains in fifth place but moves to within three points of Fiorentina with the win.
Fiorentina generated the better chances and came within inches of taking the lead late in the first half when Stevan Jovetic saw his shot tipped onto the post by Roma goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont.
David Pizarro thought he had won the game for Fiorentina in the final minute when his shot beat substitute goalkeeper Mauro Goicoechea, only to see the shot crash against the post.
And Roma took advantage of the break when Osvaldo got up to head home Miralem Pjanic's corner kick, moving the club to within four points of Milan.
Chievo 0, Cagliari 0
Verona, Italy - Chievo and Cagliari played out a dull 0-0 draw on Saturday as both sides seem all but assured of a place in Serie A next season.
Both sides managed to put just one shot on target, and the best chance for either side came in the 39th minute when Chievo's Boukary Drame put a shot on target on the turn that was dealt with by Cagliari goalkeeper Michael Agazzi.
The result moves Chievo eight points clear of the drop zone, while Cagliari will be mathematically safe on Sunday unless both Genoa and Palermo manage to win.
