Makiadi, Schmid lead Freiburg past Augsburg
May 5, 2013 - 5:51 PM Freiburg, Germany (Sports Network) - Cedric Makiadi and Jonathan Schmid scored on opposite sides of halftime to lift Frieburg to a 2-0 defeat of Augsburg at the Mage Solar Stadion on Sunday.Makiadi opened the scoring at the half-hour mark to send the home side into the halftime break with a one-goal lead, and Schmid doubled Freiburg's advantage with a goal in the 61st minute.
The win sees Freiburg snap a two-game slide to improve to 48 points and remain in the hunt for a Champions League qualification spot for next season.
Augsburg remains on 30 points to stay in the relegation zone on goal differential.
Hamburg 1, Wolfsburg 1
Hamburg, Germany - Hamburg and Wolfsburg split the points at the Imtech Arena on Sunday as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw.
Heiko Westermann got Hamburg off the mark just before halftime, but Makoto Hasebe got the visitors on equal terms with a goal in the 65th minute.
The draw extends Wolfsburg's unbeaten run in Bundesliga play to eight games. The club has taken 14 points over that stretch to climb to 41 points on the season.
Hamburg jumps up to seventh place in Germany's top flight by improving to 45 points.
