Colorado signs Mera on loan
May 7, 2013 - 3:27 PM Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rapids announced late Monday that the club has signed Colombian defender German Mera on a loan deal from Deportivo Cali for the remainder of the MLS season.Mera, 23, has spent the last three seasons with Deportivo Cali in the Colombian league where he lodged a total of 56 appearances in league and cup play.
"German is a big, strong and talented young defender with experience at the top level in Colombia," said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. "Bringing him in gives us some good depth along the back line, as he can play both centrally and on the left. We're looking forward to welcoming him to the club."
Mera will be added to the Rapids roster pending the receipt of his P-1 work visa and International Transfer Certificate.
