Brockie, Caldwell sign with TFC
May 7, 2013 - 10:33 PM Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto FC announced Tuesday that the club has signed striker Jeremy Brockie and defender Steven Caldwell on loan deals.Brockie, 25, joins TFC after spending the past season with Wellington Phoenix of the Hyundai A-League. The New Zealand international appeared in 24 matches and scored 16 goals to finish second in league scoring.
"We're excited to have Jeremy join us on loan," said Toronto FC President and General Manager Kevin Payne. "Ryan (Nelsen) has played with him on the All Whites and speaks very highly of him. He'll provide another option in an attacking position and if he can continue his form from the last A-League season we'll be happy indeed."
Caldwell, 32, joins the club after spending the last two seasons with Birmingham City of England's Championship Division. He made 90 appearances and scored two goals in all competitions for the club.
"We're pleased that Steven has agreed to join us on loan until July," Payne said in a statement. "He's a proven defender with great experience. We expect him to help shore up our defense."
