Messi likely out for rest of the season
May 14, 2013 - 3:58 PM Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi will likely miss the remainder of the season as he recovers from a hamstring injury, the La Liga club revealed Tuesday.Messi suffered the injury in the first leg of the club's Champions League quarterfinal against PSG and has been in and out of the side ever since.
The four-time Ballon d'Or winner came off of after 67 minutes in Barcelona's title-clinching win over Atletico Madrid on Sunday. After tests revealed the extent of Messi's injury, the Argentine appears set to remain on the sidelines for Barcelona's final three league contests of the season.
"Tests this Tuesday morning showed that Leo Messi has an elongation in the femoral biceps in his right leg," Barcelona said in a statement. "The expected absence is two to three weeks. How the injury evolves will determine the player's availability for future games."
