Pig's head left in Stoke City locker
May 17, 2013 - 3:35 PM Premier League club Stoke have launched an internal investigation into reports of a dressing room prank featuring a bloody pig's head and a smashed car windscreen. It has been reported that a pig's head was left in Kenwyne Jones' locker by team-mate Glenn Whelan on Friday.
On discovering the pig's head, Trinidad striker Jones was reportedly so furious that he stormed outside and smashed the window of Whelan's car in retribution.
Stoke's American defender Brek Shea later posted a picture of the pig's head on social media site instagram with the caption: "Locker room banter gone wild!"
But, while some players may have been amused, the incident didn't go down well with Jones's girlfriend.
In an angry rant on Twitter, Kissa Abdullah wrote: "Big men acting like kids, a pigs head is not a prank its just disgusting!
"It just takes a minute to be sensitive to someone's beliefs. No one can say you can't have a sense of humour but let it be a joke! This wasn't!"
Stoke manager Tony Pulis and the club's directors are also unimpressed.
"The club takes seriously reports of an incident at our training ground this afternoon," Stoke said in a statement.
"A full internal investigation will be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in accordance with the club's disciplinary procedures."
The incident comes less than a week after Stoke striker Michael Owen was given an unwelcome send-off by his team-mates ahead of his final home game before retirement.
The former Liverpool, Manchester United and England star's car was covered in eggs and flour.
