Mazzarri leaves Napoli post
May 20, 2013 - 3:41 PM Naples, Italy (Sports Network) - Walter Mazzarri stepped down as manager of Napoli after his team ended its season with a 2-1 defeat against Roma on the final day of the Serie A campaign on Sunday.Mazzarri has spent the past four seasons in charge of Napoli, including a second-place finish this term, nine points adrift of champions Juventus.
"At this point I think it is only right to either change scenery or have some time off," Mazzarri said. "If offers come in then I will evaluate them. If I have the right adrenaline and motivation then I'll do it, otherwise I'll stay at home.
"I had already made the decision some time ago ... which is why I turned down a contract extension."
Under Mazzarri, Napoli has qualified for the Champions League in two of the past three seasons.
