PSG concludes Ligue 1 campaign in style
May 26, 2013 - 9:30 PM Lorient, France (Sports Network) - PSG wrapped up its title-winning Ligue 1 season in style, running out at the Stade du Moustoir to a 3-1 defeat of Lorient on Sunday. After a scoreless opening period, Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring in the 51st minute with his Ligue 1-best 30th goal of the season.
The visitors extended the lead through Kevin Gameiro, who bagged a brace with goals in the 62nd and 65th minutes.
Ronan Le Crom was sent off for PSG in the 81st minute to allow Arnaud Le Lan to pull back a consolation goal for Lorient three minutes later, but it did little to spoil PSG's party.
The club concludes the Ligue 1 season with a 12-point gap over second-place Marseille, which was held to a 0-0 home draw by Reims.
Lorient ends the season with two straight defeats to drop to eighth place in the top flight with 53 points.
At the other end of the table, Nancy claimed a 2-1 victory at Brest, but it was enough to see the club avoid relegation - it finishes the season third from bottom on 38 points, nine points better than last-place Brest.
Joining Nancy and Brest in Ligue 2 next season will be Troyes after its 2-1 defeat at Valenciennes. Benjamin Nivet's opening goal in the 12th minute had given Troyes hopes of survival, but an own goal from Florient Jarjat and a late winner from Gregory Pujol saw Valenciennes claim all three points.
Lyon clinched the Champions League qualification spot thanks to a 2-0 defeat of Rennes. Lisandro Lopez converted a first-half penalty while Clement Grenier secured the win with a second-half strike.
