Carvajal returns to Madrid from Leverkusen
Jun 3, 2013 - 7:54 PM Leverkusen, Germany (Sports Network) - Bayer Leverkusen defender Daniel Carvajal has returned to Real Madrid after a strong 2012-13 campaign in Germany.Carvajal arrived at Leverkusen from Real Madrid's reserve side, and after a season in which he appeared in 32 Bundesliga matches, scoring one goal with seven assists, Madrid has elected to exercise an option to buy back the 21- year-old's contract.
Madrid had three years in which to bring Carvajal back to the club, but it took only one season in Germany's top flight for the young defender to impress.
Also on Monday, Leverkusen announced that the club has signed 39-year-old goalkeeper Andres Palop from Sevilla on a free transfer to serve as a backup.
