Djukic takes charge of Valencia
Jun 5, 2013 - 4:06 PM Valencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Valencia announced on Wednesday that former Valladolid manager Miroslav Djukic has signed a contract through 2014 to take over as boss at the club.Djukic replaces Ernesto Valverde as manager of Los Che after Valverde guided the club to a fifth-place finish this past season, missing out on the fourth and final Champions League place on the final day of the campaign.
The 47-year-old Djukic spent time at Valencia during his playing career, from 1997-2003, appearing in 157 games.
After helping Valladolid earn promotion to La Liga two years ago, Djukic saw his side comfortably maintain a spot in the Spanish top flight with a 14th- place finish last term.
