Figueroa completes Hull City switch
Jun 17, 2013 - 5:41 PM Hull, England (Sports Network) - Hull City secured the services of defender Maynor Figueroa from Wigan on Monday on a free transfer.Figueroa leaves Wigan after a five-year spell at the DW Stadium, and he joins the newly-promoted Tigers as a free agent on a two-year contract.
The Honduras international joined Wigan in 2008 when he was signed by then Wigan boss Steve Bruce, who is currently the manager of Hull City.
The 30-year-old played a part in Wigan capturing the FA Cup last season, but Figueroa was unable to help the Latics avoid relegation despite playing in 41 games in all competitions and scoring three goals.
"I'm happy to be here and to be a part of the club," Figueroa told Hull's official website.
"It is a big challenge for me, but it's certainly one I'm looking forward to.
"When the team were playing the final few games in the Championship, I paid close attention to the results because I wanted Steve Bruce to achieve promotion. I was happy for him to earn the success. He is a great manager, and I'm looking forward to working with him again."
