Crew SC's Kamara named MLS Player of the Week

May 26, 2015 - 4:47 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Columbus Crew SC forward Kei Kamara was named MLS Player of the Week on Tuesday for the 12th week of the 2015 season.

Kamara netted both of his side's goals in a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire on Friday, taking his league-leading total to nine, two ahead of Seattle's Clint Dempsey and San Jose's Chris Wondolowski in the race for the Golden Boot.

Kamara opened the scoring in the eighth minute of Friday's contest, tapping home Ethan Finlay's square ball to put the finishing touch on a well-worked Crew SC attack.

He doubled Columbus' lead in the 55th, powering home Kevan George's flicked header of a Federico Higuain corner for his second brace in his last three games.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
