United falls again to Manchester City
Feb 10, 2008 - 9:51 PM By PA SportsTicker staffManchester City completed a league double over Manchester United on the day the city remembered the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster.
The last time City achieved such a feat was back in 1970 and the last time they won here was four years later.
Darius Vassell put City ahead in the 24th minute and Benjani Mwaruwari, on his debut following a protracted move from Portsmouth, headed the second.
United replied with an injury-time goal from Michael Carrick but City held on.
Shot-shy Chelsea squandered the chance to increase the pressure on Arsenal and United with a goalless draw against Liverpool in today's other Premier League contest at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea dominated the second half but the closest they came to breaking the deadlock was a volley from Michael Ballack 10 minutes from time.
Liverpool had controlled the opening 45 minutes and Peter Crouch wasted three headed chances to open the scoring.
No one has shouted yet.
