Barca coach won't discuss La Liga future
Oct 27, 2017 - 6:29 PM Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde won't speculate on the possibility the club being forced out of La Liga following Catalonia's unilateral declaration of independence from Spain.Valverde was asked about the matter during a press conference ahead of Barca's La Liga away game this weekend against Athletic Bilbao, which followed the Catalan parliament's decision to secede.
"I won't deny that I follow the matter, like everybody else," Valverde said.
"I have my own opinion, but I prefer to focus on the sporting aspect. Above all, because the political aspect changes every half-hour.
Asked about the possibility that Barcelona would be expelled from Spanish soccer, he replied: "That has not happened yet."
"We are talking about hypotheses. I prefer to talk about realities. The reality is that we have a league match tomorrow and we want to win it.
"Athletic are very strong at San Mames, not just now, but for a long time. They are intense in their play and the fans really get behind them, and we know they will not give up."
