Fire cancel exhibition with Jagiellonia
May 20, 2008 - 5:36 PM BRIDGEVIEW, Illinois (Ticker) - The Chicago Fire's international exhibition game with Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok on May 31 has been cancelled, the Major League Soccer club announced on Tuesday.Jagiellonia's lowly finish to its league season means it has to take part in a two-leg playoff on May 28 and 31 to stay in the Polish First Division and, therefore, the team is unable to travel to Chicago to play the exhibition, which had been scheduled for Toyota Park.
Despite the cancelation, the Fire will still host Polish club Wisla Krakow in an exhibition on Wednesday.
Chicago currently is tied for second in the Eastern Conference of the MLS with 16 points, going 5-2-1 in its first eight matches.
