Real Salt Lake D Beltran has hernia surgery
Sep 17, 2008 - 11:08 PM SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Real Salt Lake rookie defender Tony Beltran had surgery to repair a sports hernia, the team announced on Wednesday.The surgery was performed Tuesday in Munich, Germany by Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck and will keep Beltran sidelined two to three weeks.
"We are pleased that Tony's surgery was successful, and we look forward to Tony fighting his way back into our back-line rotation and contributing down the stretch," Real Salt Lake general manager Garth Lagerwey said.
Real Salt Lake selected Beltran with the third overall pick in January's MLS SuperDraft. The former UCLA star has registered one assist in 13 games.
