MLS suspends Moreno one game

Oct 1, 2008 - 7:33 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- D.C. United forward Jaime Moreno was suspended one game for a flagrant foul in Sunday's game against FC Dallas.

Moreno also was fined $250 for endangering an opponent with a blow to the head. He was sent off after elbowing Andre Rocha in the 84th minute of United's 3-0 loss.

"I didn't see (the red card), but Jaime has got to do a better job when he's provoked of being smart enough to realize how much these games count," D.C. United coach Tom Soehn said.

The one-game suspension is tacked on to the automatic one-game suspension for the red card, which will force Moreno to sit out the next two contests.

Moreno is MLS' career goal-scoring lead with 122 tallies. He has 10 goals and nine assists this season for United (10-13-3), which is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
