FRISCO, Texas (Ticker) -- Kenny Cooper scored two goals, including a penalty kick during injury time as FC Dallas earned a 2-2 draw with Toronto FC in a wild finish.
Just minutes after Marvell Wynne gave Toronto a one-goal lead, the visitors were whistled for a foul in the box off a free kick, setting the stage for Cooper.
The Dallas striker calmly stepped to the ball and placed a right-footed shot just under a diving Greg Sutton in the third minute of stoppage time, tying the game at 2-2.
It was Cooper's 18th goal of the season, putting him one behind Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy in the race for the Golden Boot.
Toronto (8-12-8), which has just one win in its last nine contests, appeared to have delivered the death blow in the 88th minute as Wynne ran onto a loose ball down the middle of the field.
Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala came out to the top of the penalty area to attempt to cut off the angle, but Wynne lifted the ball over Sala and into the back of the net to give Toronto a 2-1 lead.
The home team answered two minutes later as a free kick from the left wing was sent into the box where Adrian Serioux was fouled by Julius James as he attempted to head the ball. Toronto sternly protested the call, but to no avail.
Marco Velez scored in the 72nd minute for Toronto and Cooper recorded his first tally in the 34th minute to net a 1-0 advantage for Dallas (8-9-11).
KANSAS CITY 1, NEW ENGLAND 0 ----------------------------
KANSAS CITY, Kansas (Ticker) -- Jimmy Conrad scored the only goal of the game in the 61st minute to give the Kansas City Wizards a key 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution.
Conrad headed Jack Jewsbury's corner kick past New England (12-9-7) goalkeeper Matt Reis 15:23 into the second half as the Wizards extended their home unbeaten streak to nine games.
Kevin Hartman recorded the shutout in net, his 10th shutout on the season.
The win put Kansas City (9-10-9) one point ahead of FC Dallas for the league's fourth and final playoff berth.
CHIVAS USA 1, SAN JOSE 0 ------------------------
SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Justin Braun scored in the seventh minute for the lone goal of the match as Chivas USA clinched a playoff berth with a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.
Dan Kennedy made just one save for Chivas (12-10-6), which has won four straight contests. It is the third straight year that Chivas has made the postseason.
Braun's goal came off a feed from Alecko Eskandarian on Chivas' first shot of the game.
San Jose (7-11-9) outshot Chivas, 13-8, but only managed one on net as the club's postseason chances took a significant hit.
No one has shouted yet.
