MLS issues suspensions, fines to Kamara, Ricchetti

Oct 22, 2008 - 9:59 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Major League Soccer suspended Houston Dynamo forward Kei Kamara and midfielder Pablo Ricchetti of FC Dallas one game each and fined them $250 apiece on Wednesday for separate incidents last week.

The fines and suspensions are in addition to the automatic one-game suspensions and $250 fines handed down after each player was given a red card in their team's games.

Kamara elbowed San Jose Earthquakes defender Nick Garcia in an altercation during a matchup on October 15. After sitting out Houston's game against the Los Angeles Galaxy on October 18, Kamara also will miss the Dynamo's final regular-season game against Chivas USA on Sunday.

Ricchetti was disciplined for a pair of incidents during Dallas' matchup with Real Salt Lake on Saturday. He was called for a dangerous challenge on Will Johnson and also engaged in a subsequent confrontation with Ian Joy. He will miss Sunday's final regular-season game against Los Angeles and the opener of the 2009 season.
