D.C. United sign M Simms

Dec 9, 2008 - 12:20 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- D.C. United on Monday signed midfielder Clyde Simms to a contract extension.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old Simms played in all but three minutes of the United's matches last season. He had a career-high two goals and two assists in 30 games this campaign.

"We are very pleased to have resigned Clyde to another long term deal," D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper said. "He has worked his way into becoming one of our most consistent performers the past two seasons, and a very respected holding midfielder in MLS. At 26, we look forward to Clyde being an important part of our future for years to come."
