Ratings for 1st game of WNBA finals up 33 percent

Oct 1, 2009 - 9:17 PM NEW YORK(AP) -- The highest-scoring game in WNBA history drew strong ratings.

Phoenix's 120-116 overtime win over Indiana on Tuesday in the opener of the WNBA finals was up 33 percent from the previous year. It drew a 0.4 rating and was watched by 555,000 viewers, up 59 percent from last season. The game doubled viewership from the regular season.

It was the highest-rated WNBA game on ESPN since Game 4 of the 2007 finals between Detroit and Phoenix.
