San Antonio acquires Smith from Indiana
Mar 1, 2012 - 10:31 PM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Silver Stars acquired center Tangela Smith from the Indiana Fever in exchange for guard Roneeka Hodges Thursday."We are pleased to be able to acquire Tangela," Silver Stars head coach and general manager Dan Hughes said. "She is one of the best three-point shot makers the WNBA has seen. She also brings rebounding length and great versatility to our team. We want to thank Roneeka for all she did for the Silver Stars during her two seasons and wish her well."
Smith, a 14-year veteran, is the WNBA'a all-time leader in games played (448), while ranking fourth in blocks (554), seventh in rebounds (2,318) and eighth in scoring (5,011).
Through 33 games with Indiana last season, Smith averaged 7.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She is a career 37.1 percent shooter while connecting on 34 percent of her three-point attempts.
The 29-year-old Hodges has appeared in 198 career games, averaging 6.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists a game.
