Catchings, Toliver pick up WNBA monthly honors
Sep 5, 2012 - 7:25 PM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever and Kristi Toliver of the Los Angeles Sparks were named the WNBA's Eastern and Western Conference players of the month for games played in August.Catchings averaged 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.1 steals while leading the Fever to a 6-1 record in August. She helped Indiana clinch its eighth consecutive berth in the WNBA Playoffs, the longest active streak in the Eastern Conference.
Toliver led all Western Conference players in scoring (23.8 ppg) while guiding the Sparks to a 4-1 mark in August. Los Angeles clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
