Silver Stars re-sign Perkins to multi-year deal
Feb 11, 2013 - 8:01 PM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Silver Stars re-signed guard Jia Perkins to a multi-year contract on Monday.Perkins, 30, was the leading scorer off the bench for San Antonio the past two seasons. Last year, she averaged 10.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, and finished ninth in the WNBA in steals with 1.60 per contest.
"We are excited to have Jia continue to be a vital part of the Silver Stars family moving forward," Silver Stars coach and general manager Dan Hughes said. "She has been very effective in whatever role she has been asked to play for us over the past two seasons. She is a true professional."
In nine seasons with Charlotte (2004-05), Chicago (2006-10) and San Antonio, Perkins owns career averages of 11.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Her 415 total steals ranks 19th all-time.
