Lynx acquire McCarville in three-team trade
Mar 1, 2013 - 8:56 PM Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Lynx have acquired center Janel McCarville and a 2014 second-round draft pick from the Tulsa Shock in a three-team trade.As part of the deal, Minnesota sends guard Candice Wiggins to Tulsa in a sign- and-trade. In addition, Tulsa receives forward Nicole Powell and a 2013 third- round pick from the New York Liberty, while New York receives the rights to guard Deanna Nolan, a 2013 second-round pick and a 2013 third-round pick from Tulsa.
McCarville last played in the WNBA in 2010 with the Liberty. A former No. 1 overall draft pick, McCarville has averaged 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in six WNBA seasons. She was the 2007 WNBA Most Improved Player.
Wiggins registered 6.8 points, 2.1 rebound and 2.0 assists per game last season. In 140 games (43 starts) with the Lynx, Wiggins has averaged 10.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
Powell spent the past three seasons with New York. Last season, she started 21 of 34 games and averaged 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. An eight-year veteran out of Stanford, she has averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.
Nolan last played in the league in 2009. She played nine seasons with Detroit, averaging 13.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
