McCoughtry, Taurasi named WNBA Players of the Week
Jun 17, 2013 - 8:51 PM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Angel McCoughtry of the Atlanta Dream and Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury were named the WNBA's Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending June 16.McCoughtry led Atlanta to a pair of victories last week thanks to averaging 23.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks, earning her second top player honor mention of the brief 2013 season.
Taurasi led the league with a whopping 31.5 points per contest, helping Phoenix to two wins. Her top performance of the week came in a 97-81 win against Los Angeles last Friday, during which she posted the 35th career game of 30-or-more points.
Other players up for the award were Elena Delle Donne from Chicago, New York's Cappie Pondexter, Kristi Toliver from Los Angeles and Seattle's Tina Thompson.
