Dream build roster in expansion draft
Feb 6, 2008 - 8:49 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) - The WNBA's newest franchise, the Atlanta Dream, set about building a roster Wednesday by selecting 13 players and completing three trades.After starting the day with a blank sheet of paper, the Dream now boast a roster with two WNBA title winners and three internationals.
Among the 13 players Atlanta selected in the expansion draft were guard Betty Lennox, a winner with Seattle in 2004, and Kristin Haynie, a guard from Sacramento's title-winning team in 2005.
The Dream also selected Brazilian forward Erika DeSouza from Connecticut and Belgian center Ann Wauters from the New York Liberty.
Once the draft was complete, Atlanta traded guard Roneeka Hodges and the fourth overall draft pick to Seattle for Brazilian guard Iziane Castro Marques and the eighth overall pick.
The Dream also traded the 18th draft pick and forward LaToya Thomas to Detroit for guard Ivory Latta.
Atlanta has the eighth, 24th and 32nd pick in April's draft.
