Mercury re-sign G Mazzante
Feb 21, 2008 - 8:10 PM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The defending WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury on Thursday re-signed guard Kelly Mazzante to a four-year contract.Financial terms were not disclosed.
Mazzante is entering her second season with the Mercury, playing in all 34 games last and averaging 5.4 points - the most for a Phoenix reserve.
"Kelly is well-respected as a player and person," Mercury general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale said. "Virtually every team in the league wanted her, and I feel proud and grateful that she wants to remain a member of the Mercury for a long time."
The Big Ten Conference's all-time leading scorer - men or women - with 2,919 points at Penn State, Mazzante was selected by Phoenix in the second round of the 2007 dispersal draft from Charlotte.
