Silver Stars pick up options on duo
Mar 3, 2008 - 8:59 PM SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - The San Antonio Silver Stars on Monday picked up the 2009 contract options on forward Sophia Young and guard Shanna Crossley.Young has been an All-Star selection in both of her two seasons in the WNBA since being made the fourth overall pick out of Baylor. In 2007, Young averaged 16.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
"We have been treated to watch Sophia immediately impact our organization as a rookie and then continue her development into an All-Star" Silver Stars general manager Dan Hughes said. "We cannot wait to watch this special player lead us in the coming years."
Crossley averaged 9.2 points per game in 2007. The long-range specialist already holds the Silver Stars' all-time record for 3-pointers attempted with 308, and is second in 3-pointers made with 122.
